Pacific Grove Capital is an Equity Long/Short fund with opportunistic investments in credit. Target industry focus includes consumer, industrials, TMT, and non-bank financials. The concentration is in “best ideas” with the top 10 long positions typically representing 50-70% of the portfolio. The fund undertakes in-depth fundamental research to find transformative change in high quality businesses within its circle of competence; longs have 50-100% targeted upside over 2-3 years.

The short side focuses on companies being disintermediated by technology or competition or with unsustainable margin structures. Pacific Grove Capital has built an institutional quality business with an 8 person Day 1 team. Managing Partner, Jamie Mendola, is joined by three seasoned investment professionals and four business operations professionals, which include CFO/COO, Controller, Director of IR & Business Development, and Office Manager.

Jamie Mendola is the Founder and Portfolio Manager of Pacific Grove Capital. His past experience includes being Partner at Scout Capital, a Principal at Watershed Asset Management, Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan Chase. He graduated summa cum laude from Binghamton University and a M.B.A. from Stanford’s Graduate School of Business.

Michael Scotto is a Senior Analyst at Pacific Grove Capital. He has worked at Scout Capital, Chesapeake Partners, Goldman Sachs and Merrill Lynch. Michael graduated from Stanford University with a B.A. in International Relations, a secondary major in Economics, and a minor in Italian Language.

Nathan Sheth is a Senior Analyst at Pacific Grove Capital. He’s previously worked at APS Asset Management, SPO Partners, Morgan Stanley and Dresdner Kleinwort. He graduated from Villanova University with a B.S. in Finance and a M.B.A. from The Wharton School.

Brent D’Amico is a Senior Analyst at Pacific Grove Capital. Previously he held positions at Varna Capital, Highline Capital, MSD Capital and Morgan Stanley. He graduated, magna cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame in 2005 with a B.B.A. in Finance, and a M.B.A. from The Wharton School.

Richard Van Doren is the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Pacific Grove Capital. Prior to joining Pacific Grove Capital, Richard was the Chief Financial Officer of Marcato Capital Management, LP, a long/short activist fund.. He graduated with a B.S. in Finance from the University of San Francisco.

Nancy Qualtieri is the Controller of Pacific Grove Capital. Nancy graduated with a B.S. in Corporate Finance and Accounting from Bentley College, magna cum laude, and earned a Masters of Science in Accountancy from Bentley University’s McCallum Graduate School of Business, where she graduated with High Distinction.

Katie Dillard is the Director of IR at Pacific Grove Capital. She has worked at Copernicus Capital Management, Credit Suisse and Houlihan Lokey. Katie graduated, cum laude, from Texas Christian University with a degree in Finance and was one of 15 undergraduate students selected to manage the educational investment fund.
